WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Breaks Silence after Minor Wrestler’s Father Admits Filing ‘False Case’

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has been embroiled in a controversy after the father of a minor wrestler admitted to filing a false police complaint against WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh. The allegations stemmed from the wrestler’s exclusion from the selection process. As the case unfolds, both Singh and the wrestlers await the court’s decision, with a chargesheet expected to be filed before June 15. In the midst of the ongoing turmoil, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has intervened, promising a thorough investigation and ensuring that the WFI elections will take place by June 30.

The WFI President Responds:

Brij Bhushan Singh, the outgoing President of the Wrestling Federation of India, declined to comment on the recent media reports suggesting that the father of a minor wrestler intentionally filed a false police complaint against him. Singh stated that the matter is currently before the court, and it is the court’s responsibility to reveal the truth. He emphasized that he would refrain from making any further statements at this time. The WFI chief’s reluctance to discuss the issue indicates his belief that the judicial system will ultimately provide clarity.

The Allegations and Wrestlers’ Protest:

The minor wrestler’s father initially accused Brij Bhushan Singh of misconduct and filed a complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. However, recent media reports revealed that the father admitted to intentionally lodging the false complaint as an act of revenge against Singh. Allegedly, the father believed that his daughter had been unfairly excluded from the Asian U17 championship trials.

Following the revelation, the wrestlers staged a protest demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. After a five-hour-long meeting between the wrestlers and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, the wrestlers decided to suspend their protest until June 15. The minister assured the wrestlers that the investigation into Singh’s conduct would be completed by the specified date, and a chargesheet would be filed accordingly. Thakur also confirmed that the WFI elections would be conducted before June 30.

Awaiting the Court’s Decision:

Brij Bhushan Singh reiterated that the court should be the ultimate arbiter in this case. He emphasized that it is the court’s responsibility to determine the truth behind the allegations made against him. The outgoing WFI chief maintained that he would await the court’s decision and refrain from commenting further until then.

The controversy surrounding the false police complaint against WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh has taken a new turn with the minor wrestler’s father admitting to filing the complaint out of revenge. As the legal proceedings progress, both Singh and the wrestlers have put their faith in the court to uncover the truth. With the assurance of a thorough investigation from Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, the wrestlers have temporarily suspended their protest. All eyes now turn to the court’s verdict and the upcoming WFI elections, set to take place before June 30.
