Outside of her Banjara Hills home, YS Sharmila assaulted police officers and smacked a female policeman, according to Hyderabad’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Joel Davis.
HYDERABAD: YSR Telangana Party president YS Sharmila was arrested by Hyderabad police on Monday after she allegedly assaulted police officers who tried to stop her from leaving her house for the party’s protest outside the office of the special team investigating the leak of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) recruitment exam question papers.
YS Vijayalakshmi, her mother, was also accused of attacking police officers who prevented her from meeting her daughter at the police station. However, Vijayalakshmi was not charged by the police. According to Joel Davis, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone), Hyderabad, YS Sharmila assaulted police officers and struck a female policeman outside her Banjara Hills apartment when they attempted to prevent her from travelling to the SIT office without permission.
The incident occurred at the home of Shamila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, when police barred her from leaving her car outside the SIT office to protest police negligence in investigating recruitment exam violations. Sharmila is shown in a video clip on social media shoving aside police officers who tried to stop her and slapping a female policeman for blocking her from getting inside the car.
Sharmila’s mother, former Andhra Pradesh MLA YS Vijayalakshmi, later clashed with police over meeting his daughter. Vijayalakshmi is accused of slapping a female officer in front of the Jubilee Hills police station when she was denied entry to meet Sharmila.
Vijayalakshmi, the late wife of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, got into a dispute with the police, who refused to let her in. When the cops tried to drag her back, she allegedly slapped one of them. Later, Vijayalakshmi told reporters that she had lost her patience since the cops were mistreating her.
