Recently the most discussed true crime documentary available on Netflix “Curry & Cyanide” released on 22nd of December 2023, recites the story of an average unprivileged woman turning into killing spree taking 6 people including one two year old toddler over the span of 14 years.
Gen Z and influencers are going crazy over the series and it’s on tip of tongue of every netizen. The most shocking factor about this case is the sudden reveal of the murderer from the unsuspected murders and use of cynide to murder.
The story revolves around a simple woman Jollyamma from a small village in Kerala who were poor and underprivileged. Jolly hated the fact that everyone in her family had to work to make a living. She further falls in love with Roy Thomas a man with status though being related the marriage was successful. The story goes on normally until her mother in-law persists Jolly to find a job and not to waste her talent and degree.


Further avoiding spoilers, everyone who seemed to be a problem in Jolly’s path started dying from one by one, the story also revolves around the affairs of Jolly and how she had access to cyanide .Cyanide is one of the most rapidly lethal poisons known to man and unavailable for common folks. Family members of the decreased avoided postmortem because of their traditions, only Roy Jolly’s first husband got his postmortem done and it clearly stated he died from “cyanide poisoning”.


When Jolly decided to marry the second time, Roy ‘s sister Renji got suspicious of Jolly and decided to file a case against her, when Jolly’s son confirms and tells his aunt “It was my mother who killed those 6 people”.Police arrests Jolly and the graves of the dead of digged to collect any leftover proof for the case. On one hand people blame Renji for reopening the case and disturbing the peace of decreased and other believe that it was Jolly who murdered 6 people.Jolly’s lawyers claim, that she’s being framed for the property and her confessions under custody aren’t the whole truth.
The series is highly recommended for true crime fans.
