Toy Drone Lands on Premises of Amritsar Central Jail, Raises Security Concerns

In a concerning incident that sparked security alerts, a ‘toy’ drone landed on the premises of the Central Jail in Amritsar early Monday morning. Local police swiftly responded, recovering the drone while immediately placing Paramilitary forces and all jail staff on high alert. A comprehensive search operation was initiated in response to the incident.

Given the previous attacks on Amritsar jail, the entire area was put on high alert as authorities suspected a potential terrorist attack. At approximately 2 a.m., the police were placed on heightened alert, leading to the immediate sealing of all entry and exit points of the jail. Army personnel attempted to capture the drone but were unsuccessful as it crashed and landed within the confines of the Central Jail. Initial investigations by the police suggest that the drone in question was a toy drone that accidentally went out of control and fell within the premises of Amritsar’s Central Jail, triggering the security response.

Drones are equipped with predetermined flight limits, beyond which they are unable to operate. It is believed that the drone reached its limit, resulting in the loss of control and subsequent landing within the jail premises. The police continued their investigation, eventually discovering that the toy drone belonged to two children who had inadvertently dropped it within the Central Jail while playing. To ensure the state’s safety, immediate action was taken by the police, detaining the children’s father for questioning. It is anticipated that a case will be registered against the father in due course.

The incident remains under investigation by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police.

Limited details have been released by both the police and jail authorities at this time. The ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the motive behind the incident and any potential implications arising from the toy drone’s presence within the Amritsar Central Jail. While ensuring the facility’s integrity, the police are taking necessary measures to prevent unnecessary panic or public outcry in the state. Further information regarding the incident is expected to be disclosed as the investigation progresses. The authorities will continue to prioritize the safety of the jail facility and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
