Blockage of train tracks in West Bengal. Around 46 express as well as your passenger trains were cancelled. Along with this, eight other short termination on Wednesday 5 April 2023. This was done by the South Eastern Railway (SER). This led to a lot of agitation and blockage at two railway stations in West Bengal. This blockage was caused by an organization of the Kurmi community. The trains 12814 Tata Nagar-Howrah Steel Express, 12021 Howrah Barbil Jan Shatabdi Express, 12871 Howrah-Titagarah Express were cancelled due to agitation by the members of the Kurmi community. This incident took place at Khemasuli station in West Medinipur district in the Kharagpur-Tata Nagar section of Kharagpur Division and Kustaur station in Purulia district in Adra-Chandil section of Adra Division.
Cancellation and Termination of Trains
This incident took place at around 5 0’clock in the morning. One of the officials mentioned that this happened mainly because the Kurmi community is demanding Scheduled Tribe status. Other trains such as the, 8036 Hatia-Kharagpur Express, 18035 Kharagpur-Hatia Express, 03593 Purulia-Asansol MEMU Special, 18184 Danapur-Tatanagar Express, 08647 Adra-Barabhum MEMU Special, 08049 Kharagpur-Jhargram MEMU Special, 08054 Tata Nagar-Kharagpur MEMU Special, 08015 Kharagpur-Jhargram MEMU Special, 08055 Kharagpur-Tata Nagar MEMU Special were also cancelled due to this blockage. This blockage and agitation is affecting a lot of people.
Other trains including 18011 Howrah-Adra-Chakradharpur Express will be shortly terminated. Other than this, 12883 Santrahachi-Purulia Express will be terminated for a little while at Adra, 12884 Purulia-Howrah Express will be short originated from Adra, 22862 Kantabanji-Titlagarh-Howrah Express will be short terminated at Tata Nagar and short originated as Passenger Special from Tata Nagar.
