Two more bodies have been recovered from the site of the building collapse in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi area, bringing the death toll to eight. The tragedy occurred on Monday morning when a three-story building collapsed in Patel Compound in Bhiwandi. Rescue teams have been working around the clock to find survivors and recover the bodies of those who perished in the disaster.
According to officials, the building was not in a good condition and the tenants had been asked to vacate it a few months ago. However, some of them continued to live there despite the warning.
The rescue operation has been challenging due to the heavy rains in the area. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local authorities have been working together to clear the debris and locate survivors.
Up until this point, eight individuals have been protected from the rubble and are going through treatment at a close-by clinic. The characters of the departed have not yet been uncovered.
The Maharashtra government has reported remuneration of Rs 5 lakh each for the groups of people who kicked the bucket in the breakdown. Boss Clergyman Uddhav Thackeray has likewise requested an investigation into the occurrence and guided authorities to make a move against those answerable for the structure’s breakdown.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred in Bhiwandi. The area has a large number of old and dilapidated buildings that are in urgent need of repair. The local authorities have been urged to take steps to ensure the safety of the residents of such buildings.
