Internet services disconnected for 48 hours

Internet services discontinued in Bihar. The internet services are discontinued in several districts of Bihar. These include Nalanda and even Sasaram. This suspension of internet services has been done due to the incident that took place during Ram Navami. Apparently, a gun firing incident took place and during this violent incident many people were hurt and injured. The internet has been cut out for these areas for around 48 hours (about 2 days) due to the violence. Section 144 has now been imposed on the districts of Nalanda and Sasaram.

Viswajeet Kumar, one of the doctors of the Nalanda Sadar Hospital also said that “Fourteen people were brought to the hospital. Three of them have been referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital and one person is undergoing treatment in ICU,”. This points to the fact that many people were affected by the gun firing incident.

Events of the Incident

A clash took place between two groups during a Ram Navami procession. This happened on Friday near the Gagan Diwan Mohalla under Laheri police station in Bihar Sharif. Apparently, one of the groups started to throw stones towards the procession. This further led to more violence and even gun firing. Officials are also saying that around eight vehicles were torched during the violence. Police personnel as well as a guard of the sub-divisional police officer Sasaram was also injured in the fight that continued till Friday evening.

Soon, many police officers were deployed to the site of violence and the security was also increased around the district. Rakesh Rathee, the Patna central range Inspector General (IG) mentioned that around 28 people have been arrested in relation to the fight. He further added that the police are reviewing CCTV footage to find the real culprits. Even additional police forces and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed to the scene of the incident.
