Maharashtra about to cross 40 degree mark as temperature rises

Maharashtra about to cross 40 degree mark. Maharashtra may soon touch or even cross the 40 degrees mark as the temperature is rising day by day. The region has been experiencing higher temperatures which usually does not happen during this season. Maharashtra and its citizens are having a tough time keeping up with hot and sultry weather. Even the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa are facing similar difficulties due to the rise in the temperature. Not only this, but many coastal areas or regions are facing extremely hot and uncomfortable weather conditions. All these states are facing a very strong heatwave.

Extreme weather conditions in many cities

The sudden and extreme rise in the temperature in Maharashtra and many other Indian states is starting to raise concern among the people of the country. The month of February is never associated with such terrible weather conditions and extreme heatwaves. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heatwave alert for the Raigad and Ratnagiti districts of Maharashtra. This heatwave alert was put into motion just last week due to the bad heat conditions. However, despite the various efforts by the government, the weather conditions took a turn for the worse. The maximum temperature in several districts such as Wardha, Washim, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Chandrapur, among others has crossed the 35-degrees mark.

Even Mumbai is facing severe heat conditions. On 12th March 2023, the city recorded a temperature of 39.4 degrees. This was the highest the city has experienced this season. K S Hosalikar, a scientist at the IMD, Pune, said in Mumbai’s Santacruz, the maximum temperature recorded was 39.4 degrees Celsius.

Many people feel that extreme heatwaves are happening due to the already existing problem of global warming. However, the Central Weather Station mentioned that the heatwave is happening due to the presence of strong easterly winds which are responsible for delaying the sea breeze and causing such weather conditions. The weather station also mentioned that the reversal of the winds is expected soon. For more such updates and important headlines, subscribe to STMN News.
