PM Modi organized meeting on hot weather
Prime Minister Narendra Modi organized a high-level meeting on Monday to review the readiness for the hot weather of the upcoming months. Many weather forecast agencies have predicted that there will be changes in the temperature. The summer months will be a lot hotter this time. According to an official statement made by Prime Minister Modi’s office, PM Modi talked about the forecast for the monsoon and the impact it will have on Rabi crops. He also discussed about the preparedness of medical infrastructure as well as the availability of disaster-related heat and mitigation appliances.
The Prime Minister also spoke with the India meteorological department IMD to issue daily weather forecasts in an easy and understandable manner. This will be done so that everyone can get regular updates about the weather. An official report also mentioned about the other topics that were discussed such as, “It was also discussed that TV news channels and FM radio could spend few minutes daily to explain the weather forecast.”
PM Modi also pointed towards the necessity of thorough fire surveys of all the hospitals. He gave importance to the need for a coordinated effort to deal with all forest fires. In the meeting he also discussed about the systematic changes that should take place to prevent and tackle forest fires. In addition to this, he briefed everyone about various efforts that are taking place across the country. These measures are put in place to prepare for disasters related to heat as well as mitigation. He wanted to make sure that the country was ready for anything coming its way.
Importance of spreading awareness
PM Modi also mentioned how lectures on dealing with extreme heat conditions should be introduced to children in schools. He felt that it was a necessary step due to the extreme heat of the summer months. He also directed everybody to prepare protocols for the hot weather and introduce them to the local people in the form of pamphlets or films.
