New Delhi: The only minor out of all seven female wrestlers withdrawn the allegations of sexual harassment against WFI Brij Bhushan Singh, reported The Indian Express.
This development came after one of the protesting wrestlers, Sakhi Malik said that she(minor) stands with the allegations and has not withdrawn them.
This comes after the delegation of protesting wrestlers met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday at his Delhi residence.
On May 10, the minor wrestler recorded two statements, one in front of the Delhi Police and the other in front of the magistrate alleging sexual harassment charges and Brif Bhushan Singh. According to the report in The Indian Express, the minor has a fresh statement withdrawing the allegations against Singh. This fresh statement will be considered as evidence and it is up to the court now to decide whether further charges can be pursued against the WFI chief or not.
POCSO act on Brij Bhushan Singh
In the FIR registered earlier, Brij Bhushan Singh is booked under section 10 of the POCSO act which deals with aggravated sexual assault against a minor. Additionally, he is also booked under section 345(assault or criminal force to women with the intent of outraging her modesty), 354A(sexual harassment), 354D(stalking), and 34(common intention) of the Indian Penal Code(IPC).
The fresh statement of the minor recorded under section 164 of the code of criminal procedure.
Minor’s father on June 4 said that he stood by the charge of her daughter. “We stood by our statement and I am out of the station and neither in Delhi nor Haryana,” he said.
Minor’s Father had not commented on the report but he said in FIR previously that “the trauma of alleged sexual harassment given by Singh “continues to haunt” her daughter. He said that her daughter unable to come at peace any longer and was completely disturbed.
No comment on the report of The Indian Express given by the protesting wrestlers so far. It was the wrestler’s foremost demand that the WFI chief should be detained immediately dive he is booked under the POCSO act.
WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh said earlier that he will hang himself if any of the allegations are proven true.
